One disc, drawn carefully.
Verso is the left-hand page of a book. The mark splits a page into night and day and sets one disc on the gutter: a moon cut from the dark, a lamp lit on the light. This page is the working guide, with files you can download.
The mark
Built on a 100 × 120 unit grid. Pages 50 + 50, frame 7, disc radius 30, gap 13. The disc’s arc ends land exactly on the gutter, and the outline and the hole are one compound path, so there is no seam.
Clear space is the disc radius, a quarter of the mark’s height, on every side. Below 28 px use the small mark (frame 10, disc 32); 16 px is the floor.
Mostly night. A little lamp.

A bookish serif. A railway sans.
The print master uses Sitka and Bahnschrift. For the web, open-licence stand-ins are self-hosted: Source Serif 4 and Barlow Semi Condensed.
We keep the lamps low and the shelves honest.
Italic for the one line that sounds like a person.

Caps only in the sans, tracked wide. Sentence case everywhere else.
The page, tiled.
Each tile is a two-page book with one disc that drifts across the gutter, from dusk to dawn. One tile is lit. The same device drives the hero on the home page.
